Children
Our mission: At St. Albans, we are committed to providing opportunities for children, youth and families to experience the love of Christ in community and learn to share that love with others.
At St. Alban’s, all ages are always welcome to participate in worship and learning, but we know that sometimes having our littlest ones with us can keep us from being fully present. Children from birth through age 3 can be lovingly cared for in the nursery by our trained nursery staff. Children ages 4 through 6th grade have two opportunities each Sunday for learning and fellowship: Children’s Chapel and Christian Education. Club 567 (for 5th-7th graders) is a great bridge between our children’s programs and EYC (Episcopal Youth Community) Contact our Children’s Minister, Alex Wilkerson, if you have any questions.
Nursery
Nursery care is available on Sunday mornings for the 10 a.m. service. The nursery workers are ready to play, read, sing, and give snacks and hugs.
Children’s Chapel
Children’s Chapel takes place during the regular worship service. It is a developmentally appropriate liturgy, which mirrors the same liturgy happening in the church. Children begin by sitting with their families. At an appointed time, children follow the Children’s Minister and the cross out of the church to the Parish Life Center. Children return in time to participate in Holy Eucharist with the congregation.
Christian Education Godly Play
Club 567
Christian Education Sunday School takes place at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday mornings (except when a schedule change is posted). St. Alban’s follows the Godly Play curriculum which is a simple, Montessori-style curriculum that tells children our “Sacred Stories” and then allows them to process the stories they hear in their own way through play and art. All children begin in the Godly Play room, to hear the story and participate in the “feast” before moving to different rooms with their age groups to do their “work” and respond to the story.
All 5th, 6th, and 7th graders are invited to be a part of this pre-youth group experience! We will meet once a month from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the church for fellowship and faith formation. This is a great opportunity for community building among our older children and bridges that transition between elementary and middle school. Fall gatherings will take place on:
October 22
November 5
December 3
Please note that 7th Graders are eligible to take part in either Club 567 or Episcopal Youth Community - we know all children have their own timeline so please do what's best for your family.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Vacation Bible School (VBS) Each summer, the people of St. Alban’s devote their time, energy, talent, and treasure to craft 5 days of holy learning and fun for the children in our community. Children who attend VBS can expect to praise God with singing and dancing, hear and see Bible stories come to life with our gifted storytellers, express themselves through art, explore God’s awesome creation through science experiments, and play fun games outside.
